BoxBar Vascular Opens Doors with Hands-On, State-of-the-Art Care

BoxBar Vascular, under the leadership of board certified surgeon Dr. Ellen Derrick, MD MPH FACS, opened its doors this week with a mission to improve not only the vascular health and well-being of patients but their overall quality of life as well.

“I am passionate about providing the highest-quality care in a surrounding of compassion and kindness,” said Dr. Derrick. “Between 25 to 40 million people in the US have some form of venous insufficiency compared to about 12 million with heart disease–and as the population ages, those figures will climb. I am here to help meet that need.”

Prior to opening BoxBar Vascular, Dr. Derrick was Medical Director of Safety at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett where she also performed vascular surgery. She is a nationally recognized pioneer in the need to track and monitor patient safety to improve outcomes.

In addition, Dr. Derrick held fellowships in Endovascular Surgery with Kaiser Permanente; Vascular Surgery at the University of Washington; and Interventional Radiology also at the U.W. Dr. Derrick is a former clinical faculty member at the University of Washington School of Medicine, sits on the American College of Surgeons Advocacy and Vascular Surgery Councils, and acts as a delegate for King County on Health Care Policy for Washington State.

The BoxBar name is Dr. Derrick’s legacy as a fifth-generation Texan: Her great-grandfather was a cattle rancher and rode the Santa Fe and the Chisolm trails. In the summers, she would go to his Texas ranch and help with the cattle. The brand was literally “BoxBar,” now shared with the clinic. “I inherited his passion for hard work and his fierce desire to always improve,” she said.

BoxBar offers in-office procedures for varicose and spider veins, cardiac and stroke risk assessment, as well as diagnosis and treatment of Restless Leg Syndrome, pelvic varicosities, DVT Diagnosis, Vascular Diagnosis and Treatment and more. A full range of cutting-edge, medical-grade cosmetic laser services are also available.
