Tripwire Files Suit Against UpGuard

Tripwire, Inc., a leading global provider of security and compliance solutions for enterprises and industrial organizations, today announced it had filed a lawsuit against UpGuard in the U.S. Federal District Court for the District of Oregon.

The suit alleges that UpGuard violates Tripwire patent rights under United States Patent No. 7,316,016 issued January 1, 2008, and seeks damages and to bar UpGuard’s continued infringement in the United States. The suit further alleges trade secret misappropriation and intentional interference with economic relationships.

“Intellectual property is core to technology businesses, especially innovative companies that are the pioneers in their space,” said Ambyr O’Donnell, Tripwire’s vice president and general counsel. “Tripwire has invested heavily in innovation during the last two decades. We have an obligation to protect our investments and defend our intellectual property when it is being infringed.”
