Crude oil slips again, markets open lower

The markets opened lower with the Dow losing 22 points to 17,735 as crude oil prices retreated. Nasdaq slipped 7 points to 5,075.


On the upside


Roundy's (NYSE: RNDY) will be acquired by Kroger (NYSE: KR) for a premium of approximately $800 million in cash including the assumption of debt.


Wayfair (NYSE: W) narrowed losses for the third quarter as revenue climbed prompting an upgrade.


ADT (NYSE: ADT) reported higher fourth quarter earnings that topped analyst estimates.

On the downside


Express Scripts (Nasdaq: ESRX) sued Horizon Pharma (Nasdaq: HZNP) for $140 million for failing to honor a pharmaceutical manufacturer rebate agreement. Express Scripts also removed Linden Care, which dispenses drugs almost exclusively from Horizon, from its network of pharmacies.


Macy's (NYSE: M) disappointed with sharply lower third quarter earnings as revenue fell and cut its full year earnings outlook.


Shares of SunEdison (NYSE: SUNE) extended its losses.


In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of nearly 9 to 7 on the NYSE and by nearly 10 to 9 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 slipped a point to 2,080. Bitcoin dropped $26 to $305.
