Military Veteran Reyna Carrasco Aims to Become First-Ever Recipient, Showcasing SmartPhoneRecords' Disruptive Music Streaming App and Distribution Platform Created for the Millions of Independent Artists Around the Globe.
SAN FRANCISCO - Oct. 5, 2015 - PRLog -- SmartPhoneRecords is excited to announce that our COO and Co-Founder, Reyna Carrasco, has been nominated for 2015's Most Inspiring Women in Technology Appster Award. The criteria, as described by Appsters website, consists of "a technology company that has demonstrated outstanding innovation, customer wins and deployments in the last 18 months, in which a woman was integral to that success." Additionally, the Appsters Awards are "a platform created to bring together the app industry to celebrate excellence in apps and for those creatively pushing forward the rapidly growing industry to take center stage & become recognized."

Reyna is of Cherokee Indian and Mexican descent and was raised in Northern California. After graduating from Fairfield High School she delayed her dreams of going to college to join the United States Marine Corps where she proudly served for four years at Camp Pendleton, California. During this time, she quickly climbed to the rank of sergeant (E5) and was a two-time expert award shooter. She is a combat veteran, having deployed to the Middle East in 2003, while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. She also recently earned two Associates Degrees at Solano Community College, being subsequently accepted into San Francisco State University where she will attend in 2016.

After realizing a need for a more convenient, yet effective way for artists to distribute their own music, she helped create what is now known as "SmartPhoneRecords" along with the founder, Damion Hollomon, a music artist, himself. They discovered (what they considered to be) a problem with the traditional and often pricey distribution method artists were facing, having to either rely on the use of PCs/CDs, or pay third-party vendors to distribute for them, thus creating the first and only mobile app where artists can sell their music straight from a smartphone.

They officially formed SmartPhoneRecords, LLC (SPR) in May 2014, gaining momentum primarily through social media. By November they were nominated for an Appster Award for Best Use of the Cloud 2014 and were featured at SXSW, Apps World Berlin and London, among many others. Since their release, they've maintained a 4.5/5 rating on the iPhone and Android app store and are currently ranked number one on PreApps.com.

Reyna's strength in research and data analysis, as well her contribution to SPR's overall design and functionality, has helped SmartPhoneRecords grow to quickly become the new face of music distribution, reaching over 60 countries and counting. Her priority, however, is her passion for customer service excellence, something that she feels strongly lacks in today's more mainstream music platforms.

Congratulations to Reyna and all other nominees in this year's Most Inspiring Women in Technology category. The Appster Awards will be held in London during Apps World Nov 18-19. SmartPhoneRecords is relaunching version 2.0 worldwide next month on both iPhone & Android. Sign up today for free at www.SmartPhoneRecords.com.
