Creating a documentary that will document his efforts to bring hundreds of board games to the violent parts of San SalvadorSAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – July 28, 2015 – Andrew Mark Cook is on a mission. He is on a mission to transform the lives of the children in San Salvador with the new documentary called “Games for Kids in El Salvador.” This film will document his efforts to distribute hundreds of board games to the poor children that live in the rough parts of San Salvador.
However, to make this possible he has turned to the crowdfunding community. Cook launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $6,000 by August 20th, 2015. Funds received from the campaign will go towards purchasing simple board games for these children to play and the cost to film the documentary.
After Andrew had met his wife, an educator in Mejicanos, San Salvador, he decided to travel with her through the dangerous and corrupt parts of El Salvador. In a place where there is an average of 15 murders a day, he saw these children bravely walk to school to get an education. It was astonishing to see that the school system is poorly run, and these kids don’t even have board games or a deck of cards to play. Now Andrew goes back and forth from the United States to San Salvador to give these children board games to play.
He hopes the Kickstarter campaign will help him bring more games over to these children and shed light on the heartbreaking conditions of San Salvador.
