Women’s Business Enterprise Council-West Is Proud to Announce U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Michael Williamson

Santa Barbara, California  September 15 -17, 2015 - Women’s Business Enterprise Council-West, a leading organization for women and minority women business owners, is pleased to host Lt. Gen. Michael Williamson at their 11th Annual Conference being held at the Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara, California September 15-17, 2015

The Lt. General will offer attendees valuable insights into how to qualify as a General Services Administration supplier to the U.S. Government, particularly the U.S. Military. Lt. Williamson will also educate attendees on the military guidelines for hiring women and minority women business owners for contract services.

Many women business owners are unaware of the preference that the U.S. Government gives to businesses that bid for contract opportunities and how difficult it can be for the U.S. Military to fulfill its own guidelines for hiring women, and minority women-owned businesses. This topic is a “don’t miss” for any businesswoman who is interested in doing business with the Federal Government.

Being a WBEC certified business can help you secure government contracts. The Federal Government has guidelines in each department as to how many women and women business owners do business with the government. Sadly, many of these guidelines are unmet due to lack of participation from women-owned businesses. These businesses must meet General Service Administration requirements in order to bid on contracts and must be a legitimately woman-owned business. WBEC is a certifying body that verifies that the business in question is a bona fide woman-owned business and has met their certification requirements as a business in good standing. This certification can help you work through the requirements toward GSA certification so that your business can participate in government contract bidding. You can find out more about these certifications at the upcoming WBEC-West Conference this year, September 3rd through 5th. Don’t miss out!
