“I got into film production to make an entertaining film with strong story content; Qissa Panjab is a contemperory film set in present day Panjab and spans the lives of six young people,” Annu Bains adds.
“Panjabi cinema has been evolving in the last few years and I wanted to be a part of this evolution, and this debut of Pukhraj Production has been made with a lot of passion and seriousness,” she says.
‘Qissa Panjab’ is a multiple narrative drama which has every element of an entertainer about six characters who represent the diversity of Punjab’s youth in today’s scenario, says Jatinder Mauhar, who is a young story writer, lyricist and director of two Panjabi movies “Mitti” and “Sarsa” which was later renamed as ‘Sikandar’.
There is nothing commercial or art film, it is either a good or a bad cinema which is determined by the audience response to a film and the level of engagement they have with that particular narrative, added Jatinder Mauhar.
The story written by Uday Partap Singh, revolves around the lives of six protagonists and how their paths cross and together they make choices through myriad twists and turns to an unpredictable end.
Gurdas Maan and Nooran sisters have lent their voice in the track.
Annu Bains wears many hats. Professionally she is an interior architect with numerous chic hotels, night clubs, pubs, restaurants and cafes, and villas to her credit in India and abroad. She runs an American-style restaurant in the city. She travels to Khanna where she chairs the board of an English medium school, and finds time to promote education for the underprivileged children in Panjab through her Athena Educational Trust.
Mother of a son and a daughter, and wife of a senior bureaucrat of Panjab, Annu Bains, hops from one meeting to another with utmost alacrity and without any sign of fatigue.
Passionate about aesthetics in everything she does, she has spent last six months in coordinating the production of a Panjabi entertainer, QISSA PANJAB.
