The new version of "Volatile Moon" is now available on Smashwords and the next adventure, "Never Sink Flowback", is scheduled for publication in Fall 2015.
PRLog - March 27, 2015 - CLEVELAND -- REEL Rangers, LLC announces the launch of a new literary subgenre of science fiction, Eco-Sci-Fi-Heroes, based on ecological and environmental themes featuring human heroes who are charged with the mission to protect the environment. The purpose for establishing this subgenre is to advocate environmental stewardship through science-fiction and, thereby, foster stewardship of natural resources and advancement of renewable energy technologies. REEL Rangers, LLC encourages science fiction writers and ecology advocates to contribute to the development of the literary subgenre, Eco-Sci-Fi-Heroes.

REEL Rangers Adventures is a science-fiction e-book series that advocates environmental stewardship, focusing on youth and young adult audiences. The premier e-book, Volatile Moon, is a recently revised hard science-fiction novella targeted to adults. However, future publications will feature the main characters as young adults and will introduce technology in a more comprehensible format. The next adventure, Never Sink Flowback, is actually a prequel portraying the protagonists from Volatile Moon as young cadets. This e-book is scheduled for publication in Fall 2015.

Darrell T. Boyd, Author & Publisher, believes that targeting youth is imperative. "We need to cultivate young people to serve as stewards of Earth. But how do we motivate younger generations to care about protecting the environment? Social media, classrooms and grassroots campaigns are not the most ideal platforms for cultivating compassion and commitment. Let's reach the younger generations on their preferred entertainment platforms: movies and video games. E-books are fine, but clearly not as much fun as video games. Let's make ecology advocacy fun, exciting and adventurous. Let's make it challenging because we also need scientists and innovators.” Mr. Boyd envisions REEL Rangers Adventures adapted for film, television and video games.

Originally published in 2013, the premier e-book in this series, REEL Rangers Adventure: Volatile Moon, tells the story of REEL Rangers first mission to the moon in 2072. A new version of this e-book novella is now available on Smashwords. The new version will be available for purchase on Amazon.com, beginning March 30, 2015.

Volatile Moon Synopsis: Megalith Lunar Mining extracts precious volatiles at the South Pole of the Moon. Captain Revelin North struggles to maximize production, despite contaminating the lunar environment. However, Renewable Elemental Energy Law Rangers are sent to the moon to investigate, led by Deputy Chief "Tree" Mays. A deadly confrontation between Tree and North is inevitable. Tree's reputation for challenging authority rivals his reputation for uncovering environmental violations by corporations on Earth.

Joining Tree on this mission to the Moon are fellow REEL Rangers, Luis Ramirez, a nuclear physicist, and Sophie Lavoie, an aerospace engineer. Together, the diverse trio worked to reveal the mystery of how Megalith Lunar Mining threatens the lunar environment. Risking their lives in order to stop the hazardous mining operations, a deadly confrontation between Tree and North is inevitable.

The next adventure, Never Sink Flowback, is a prequel written for young adults, scheduled for publication in Fall 2015. Subsequent books will follow the development of REEL Ranger cadets as they grow into adulthood.

Never Sink Flowback Synopsis: During a minor earthquake, four ecology ranger cadets come to the rescue of stranded ice fishermen where a foul chemical odor leads the cadets to suspect that hazardous waste disposed deep underground is causing seismic activity. Defying authority, the cadets devise a risky plan to discover the source and expose the threat, but must summon their courage and ingenuity when they are pursued by an elite security services unit.
