Love Knows no Boundaries!New Survey Shows Men Are More Likely Than Women to Risk Their Jobs and Money on a Holiday Relationship

NEW YORK – December 02, 2014 – The holiday season is in full swing which means people are doing whatever they can to make sure they don’t spend this winter alone and use the holiday spirit in their favor when searching for a relationship. According to anew Harris Interactive survey conducted on behalf of leading international dating website AnastasiaDate, men will be extra naughty this year breaking the bank for gifts and risking their jobs to make sure they find a holiday romance.

The results of the survey – which was conducted online in October 2014 and polled more than 1,100 American men and women on their dating, spending and travel habits during the holidays – found that men will do whatever it takes to make sure their holidays are hot:

  • Men are five times more likely than women to look for a casual sexual relationship during the holiday season
  • Men are twice as likely as women to look for love on online dating sites while on the clock
  • Men are more likely than women to take a new significant other to a friend’s holiday party (85 percent versus 76 percent)

With the economy rebounding and Wall Street booming, the ‘Richie Riches’ this season are sparing no expense to make sure their girlfriends’ holidays are merry and bright. Men with an income of $100,000 or more are budgeting to spend more than $275 on a new relationship – we’re talking ladies they may have just met! – and upward of $500+ on a serious relationship to make sure their ladies are spoiled this season.

Also, love appears to have no boundaries as these men are considering traveling domestically (81 percent) to be with their significant others compared to those who make less than $50,000 (54 percent) and those who make between $50,000 and $74,000 (67 percent).

“This holiday season, the best gift a girl can really give is herself as the data shows, men are looking to splurge on gifts and will use any means to ensure a hot relationship this winter,” said Lawrence Cervantes, AnastasiaDate’s Chief Communications Officer. “All is not bright and cheerful though as men should beware: bosses may be paying extra attention to make sure they’re doing their work rather than spending time on dating sites looking for the perfect date for the office holiday party.”

Cuffing season is alive and well, as men and women are letting nothing get in their way to find romance: one-in-five will use both in-person and online dating to find someone to cozy up to this winter.

Methodology:
This survey was conducted online within the United States by Harris Poll on behalf of AnastasiaDate between October 9 – 15, 2014 among 1,001 US adults aged 35-60. Figures for age, gender, race/ethnicity, education, region, and household income were weighted where necessary to bring them into line with their actual proportions in the population.
