Daughters of Charity Health System Launches New Website About Sale to Prime Healthcare

In an effort to correct misinformation and secure greater support for the sale of its six California hospitals and medical foundation to Prime Healthcare Services, Daughters of Charity Health System (DCHS) launched a new informational website today, www.dchsprime.com.

“SEIU and other uninformed individuals are spreading false information about DCHS’ selection of Prime Healthcare to take over our six hospitals and medical foundation in California. We want you to know the truth,” said Robert Issai, DCHS President and CEO.

The website answers frequently asked questions and provides recent news and background information on the sale.

“We launched this website because we want to ensure that people fully understand why we chose Prime Healthcare and how this sale will ensure that our hospitals are able to continue providing essential health services in their communities while preserving the pension plans of DCHS workers past and present,” Issai said.

The website also aims to rally support from both employees and community members and urges Attorney General Kamala Harris to approve and finalize the sale. Supporters can go to the website to sign a Change.org petition urging the Attorney General to act in the best interest of all Californians and approve the sale to Prime.

“The DCHS board of directors evaluated the proposals based on a strict set of criteria and concluded that the transfer of control to Prime Healthcare is in the public interest,” Issai said. “This sale provides assurances for our associates and the communities that depend on our hospitals and physicians for access to health care services. This petition will show the Attorney General the widespread support we have throughout our communities.”
