Stamford, CT – October 22, 2014. In a tiny village called Chanchali Linda Singh and Vinay, her Indian-born husband, have been providing behind-the-scenes support to a community rich in talent but poor by first-world standards. The support, which began as a way to honor Vinay’s father who had recently died, became the Sitara Foundation. The funds raised have been supporting the SVV School in order to supplement the local children’s education to better prepare them to seek a way to improving their lives.

During visits to India, Linda Singh fell in love with the magnificent art the local craftswomen produced. When she came home with jewelry, clothing, and home items she had purchased, she found her friends and family loved them too. It didn’t take long for Singh to realize that the perfect—and perfectly modern—way to continue supporting these crafts people was to share these time-honored artisan-produced gifts with a worldwide market.

That’s why Sitara Collections is turning to the crowd to make one family’s dream a reality by which so many will benefit. Designed to raise awareness—and much-needed funds—Sitara Collections is poised to launch a crowdfunding campaign on October 22, 2014 for its lines of distinctive jewelry and one-of-a-kind lifestyle accessories created by local Indian artisans.

Singh says, “I founded Sitara Collections as a resource for people seeking exceptional, artisan-produced gifts. Through Sitara, customers not only receive access to these gorgeous products, but the satisfaction of supporting traditional craftsmanship.”

The company has made steady progress, but Singh believes there’s more to be accomplished. “We have loyal customers who love browsing the site looking for new gemstone jewelry or home accents,” Singh says. “But the fair-trade mission behind the company is too important to allow Sitara to remain only semi-successful.”

Sitara Collections’ Crowdfunding campaign starts October 22, 2014 and the capital raised will allow Sitara to engage the talents of additional rural Indian artisans, thereby bringing new products to customers and boosting the incomes of even more unsung artists.

Sitara Collections offers high-quality products at affordable price points and specializes in artisan-produced jewelry, home goods, and lifestyle accessories. All of the pieces are made by hand using traditional craftsmanship and uphold the company’s vision of supporting local Indian artisans through fair-trade practices.

A portion of Sitara Collections’ net proceeds also benefits the SVV School in northern India.

About Sitara Collections

Founder Linda Singh brings her 30 years experience in the beauty industry, most recently as a senior marketing director to the company. After many heady trips to India, during which she would return with beautifully crafted jewelry, clothing, and home goods, Sitara Collections was born, in 2007. During her visits to rural villages, Singh met with artisans and small entrepreneurs working tirelessly to earn a living. It was then that Singh decided to use her passion for beauty to empower these artisans and their communities and to bring one-of-a-kind handcrafted items to the global marketplace. As a measure of her respect for the artisans and the country itself, Singh donates a portion of the net proceeds to the Sitara Foundation, which supports the SVV School in rural India and was founded by Singh and her Indian-born husband, Vinay. For more information, please visit:
