How the Grinch Stole Christmas—And How Ray Chevy Saved it

By: PRLog
PRLog - Sep. 30, 2014 - FOX LAKE, Ill. -- The Grinch and Ebenezer Scrooge aren’t the only ones to try and ruin Christmas.

Back in May, approximately 150 toys were discovered missing in an empty building that Catholic Charities of Lake County, a non-profit social service agency, used to store their leftover Christmas gifts for needy families.

Ray Scarpelli, owner of Ray Chevy, heard of the tragedy in the newspaper and has donated $5,000 to the organization so volunteers and board members can restock the stolen gifts.

“Without a blink of an eye, Ray found out how much was taken and wrote a check to replenish the entire amount that was stolen,” said Tom Templeton, Marketing and Technology Director at Ray Chevy.

Last year, Catholic Charities delivered gifts to 15,000 people in hopes to brighten their holiday season.

The leftover stock is used to get them started for the upcoming year.

The need for gifts grows each year. This year, Catholic Charities is also looking for a safe place to store leftover gifts for 2015.

“It was just an act of good will,” Templeton said. “To get the community together in a time of need.”
