Camping stove Editors' Choice, Top Pick and Best Buy award winners published by OutdoorGearLab.
PRLog - Sep. 30, 2014 - CHEYENNE, Wyo. -- OutdoorGearlab, a popular website that performs real-world tests of gear, recently published a comprehensive review of top camping stoves for both personal and group use. This review included models from renowned brands such as Camp Chef, Coleman, Stansport and Primus. All of the products tested were scored in the areas of how long they took to boil water, how well they performed while cooking, how well they could handle group cooking, ease of set up and care, packed size and wind resistance.

Also accompanying this review is an informational buying advice guide designed to help readers choose the best product for their particular camping and cooking needs based on where they will be camping, how many they will be cooking for and what type of fuel they will mainly be using.

The winners were as follows:

Editors' Choice - The Camp Chef Everest

The Camp Chef Everest won Editors' Choice award for being the highest scoring product across all of the metrics tested. Its high-powered and evenly lit flame was a favorite among testers. According to Gear Editor Laura Lingeman, "The Everest was durable and powerful. Its 20,000 BTU's made it the fastest product to boil water in our tests. It has a great flame that cooks nice and evenly, even at low temperatures. The auto-ignition was our favorite of all the products that we tested because it was extremely reliable even after weathering a rainstorm. We also really appreciated the extra couple of inches of cooking space that the stove surface offered."

Top Pick - Camp Chef Pro 90

The Camp Chef Pro 90 took Top Pick for group camp cooking. Gear Editor Lingeman elaborates, "The Pro 90 had the best flame output of any of the products that we tested. It has three 30 thousand BTU burners and duel prep surfaces that fold out. It is large and powerful and great for cooking for groups of six people or more. The third burner greatly decreases prep times and the side counter spaces and auto ignition are very convenient, but our favorite part was that you can cook with several 12" skillets or pots at the same time." Lingeman does warn readers that the Pro 90 can only be used with a five-gallon propane tank but it does come with a compatible attachment hose.

Best Buy - Coleman Triton

The Coleman Triton won Best Buy award for being a good all-around performer at an excellent price. Lingeman reports, "The Triton has a good flame, even heat and scored well in our simmer test. It's not too fancy, just easy to set up and clean and it does a good job without breaking the bank."
