Team Recon 2014 Mission 7 of International Aerial Robotics Competition, China. Team Recon, Hindustan University wins Most Innovative Design Award at 2014 Mission 7 of International Aerial Robotics Competition Conducted by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle System International, Yantai, China. Team Recon bagged the “Most Innovative Design Award” at the International Aerial Robotics Competition
Chennai, September 2014: Team Recon from the School of Aeronautical Sciences, Hindustan University, participated in 2014 Mission 7 of International Aerial Robotics Competition, conducted by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle System International.
The competition was simultaneously conducted in two venues – China & US. The Hindustan team participated in Yantoi, China. There were a total of 30 teams from all over the World that participated in the competition.
Members of the Recon Team from the University include: Aasish.C, Bharathraj.S, Razeen Ridhwan.U, Prasana Linci ,Punita Kumari, Nithya Priya, Arif Abdul Rahman. On reaching China the team rehearsed their presentations and assembled their aerial robot SQUADRON 2 for the competition.
Thought there were a total of 30 teams from all over the World that participated in the competition, the Presentation of team Recon was well received by the Judges. After due discussions and analysis, the decision among the judges was that theirs was the best team presentations amongst the participating members. The Judges also inspected and tested the model and Team Recon emerged successful here as well.
On the following day the team started the with two rounds of test flying at the end of which their quad encountered with a minor crash. The volunteers were helpful in assisting Team Recon by securing the appropriate spares for the Model which helped them repair their model overnight.
The result of the handworks were successful as the team was awarded with the “Most Innovative Design Award” by the Jury.
