Kroger Workers Ratify New Agreement

Atlanta and Savannah area Kroger members from United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 1996 ratified a new three-year contract yesterday. The new contract is retroactive from March 16, 2014 to March 18, 2017. The agreement includes wage increases over the course of the agreement, affordable healthcare, and secures pension funds for workers. Protecting wages and preserving healthcare for Kroger workers were the main goals for members throughout negotiations. The contract covers 23,600 workers across 163 stores in Atlanta and 12 in Savannah.

UFCW Local 1996 represents thousands of workers across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina who work in a variety of industries including retail grocery, meatpacking, food processing, and packaging plants.
